Instructional Materials
FastTrack Phonics program includes:

  • Manuals - A set of manuals that provide daily lessons and assessment materials. One volume for kindergarten level, three volumes for first grade level.
  • Key Cards - 6” by 8” color key cards that link sounds and letters together to cement letter/sound correspondences in students’ minds.
  • Student Partner Practice Booklets - Powerful interactive practice activities to build mastery.
  • Letter-Blending Decks - 3” by 4” letter and letter-combination cards teachers use to demonstrate sound blending.
  • Phonics Picture Card Set - 6” by 8” color picture cards used in phonemic awareness and phonics activities.
  • Media Support - Engaging video series that reinforces letter/sound correspondence, and models reading skills and partner learning activities using puppets and animations.

Professional Development
Your SFAF Coach builds a partnership with your school through training sessions, onsite coaching, scheduled telephone meetings, and informal telephone support. The professional development provided by the SFAF staff is designed to support school leaders and teachers as they make substantial changes in their approach to classroom instruction.

Initial Training
The one-day onsite initial training prepares teachers to implement FastTrack Phonics. The training will focus on:

  • Phonemic awareness, decoding, and word recognition strategies.
  • Elements of lessons that provide engaging images, routines, and practice needed to ensure success for each student.
  • Assessment processes, and adaptations to lessons based on assessments, to meet individual and group needs.
  • Training in beginning levels of cooperative learning.
  • Support for administrators on monitoring and improving program implementation.

Ongoing Training and Coaching
As the year progresses, your SFAF Coach will have a variety of ways to work with you to review your progress, refine your goals, and strengthen your instruction.
